Is WordPuzzleGenie free?

Yes. The core app is free and includes up to 5 puzzles per day plus 3 standard hints per puzzle. A Premium subscription ($4.99/month or $29.99/year, with a 1-week free trial on the annual plan) unlocks unlimited puzzle generations, unlimited hints, creative-hint mode, and the ability to share and print finished puzzles — you can use most of the app without ever paying.

What types of puzzles can I make?

WordPuzzleGenie has four game modes, all built from a theme you pick or type: crosswords with numbered clues, word searches with 8-direction drag-select, hangman (guess an AI-picked secret word one letter at a time), and unscramble (rearrange jumbled tiles to spell each answer). Choose your mode whenever you start a new puzzle.

How do I cancel my Premium subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your device: Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions > WordPuzzleGenie > Cancel Subscription. You’ll keep Premium access until the end of the current paid period. Auto-renewal can be turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge. Refund requests are handled by Apple at support.apple.com/HT204084.

What platforms does it run on?

WordPuzzleGenie is an iOS app. It supports iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later, with layouts designed for both. There is no Android, web, or desktop version today.

Do I need an account to use the app?

No. You can open the app, generate puzzles, and play them without signing in. Sign in with Apple is offered only to sync your saved library between an iPhone and an iPad — it’s entirely optional, and we never ask for a password.

How is my data handled?

Themes you type and puzzles you generate are stored so we can save your library and resume puzzles. To keep the App safe for everyone, every theme is automatically reviewed by an AI moderator before generation. We don’t sell data, don’t run ad networks, and don’t track you across other apps. How do you make the puzzles?

An AI model proposes a set of words (and clues, where the mode needs them) that fit your theme; the app then turns them into the game mode you choose — a numbered crossword, a classic word search with 8-direction drag-select, a hangman round, or a set of word unscrambles. Every puzzle is unique, so two people typing the same theme will get different rounds.

What happens if my theme gets blocked?

WordPuzzleGenie filters themes before generation to keep the App appropriate for users of all ages. If your theme is blocked, you’ll see the message “This theme isn’t supported. Try a different one.” — just pick a different topic. The vast majority of everyday themes (pop culture, history, science, hobbies, sports, and even darker educational topics like historical events or medical terminology) pass through without issue. Blocked attempts don’t count against your daily generation limit.

How do I report an inappropriate puzzle?

Tap and hold a puzzle in your Library, then choose “Report this puzzle.” We review reports promptly and may remove content or restrict accounts that repeatedly violate our content policy. See the “User-submitted themes & AI-generated content” section of our Terms of Service for details.

Is WordPuzzleGenie suitable for kids?

The App is rated 9+ on the App Store. The rating reflects that AI-generated puzzles may occasionally surface themes about historical violence, illness, or other mild educational topics that may not suit very young children. The App is otherwise family-friendly: there is no in-app communication, no third-party advertising, and no user-to-user content. In-app purchases (Premium subscription) can be controlled through Apple’s Family Sharing and Screen Time settings.

What happens to my saved puzzles if I uninstall?

If you signed in with Apple, your library lives in your account and comes back when you reinstall and sign in again. If you never signed in, the library is tied to that install and is removed when you delete the app.
